After driving through a spring snowstorm in the Palouse south of Spokane, I drove up Steptoe Butte near the end of the day. I wasn't sure what would happen at sunset as heavy clouds still covered most of the sky. But as luck would have it, just as the sun began to speed toward the horizon, it peaked through a cloud-break to highlight the freshly snow covered shrubs with the rolling hills beyond.
